Mrs. Brantley discussed with Grammar School about how we can change the world just by changing our words. She emphasized how one kind word can change a person's entire day. Mrs. Brantley talked about her favorite season - summer - and how one of the reasons she loves it so much is that she gets to walk barefoot. We take off our shoes when we get home because we want to be comfortable. She asked, "Who wants to be uncomfortable? Why don't we just never wear shoes, or just wear socks in the winter?" The problem, she explained, is that life brings us all sorts of dangerous things that are dangerous and sometimes painful to walk on, and we need protection. Our soles are like our souls; in our walk with Jesus, we need to guard our souls as stated in John 17:15 - "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one." God protects our souls like a good pair of shoes does. His Word will always show us how.

Coach Aubrey Rogers, Eagles varsity football assistant coach, spoke to Upper School students about how critical our culture is of people that we deem lesser than, and how we handle adversity that arises in life. He talked about a prisoner that he had ministered to that lost his home, his father, and one of his children all in the course of a year and a half, and somehow still found his way back to relative normalcy. Coach Rogers stated that what man intends for evil, God uses for good, and life is about how we respond to these events as Christians.
