MISSION & PHILOSOPHY

HERITAGE SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT

Heritage School provides a distinctive classical, Christ-centered education that prepares students for servant leadership and lives that glorify God.

AT A GLANCE

Heritage School offers a classical and Christ-centered liberal arts education using a time-proven approach to education which develops the mind and inspires thinking in order to transform the soul. Classical education grows out of Greece and draws on the medieval Trivium (“three ways”) teaching students in developmentally appropriate stages to use language well, to discern interrelationships of information, and to synthesize and articulate their understanding with wisdom, eloquence, and love, to the glory of God.

WHY CHOOSE A CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN EDUCATION?

Classical Christian education seeks to form the soul, inculcate virtue, and inspire living for a higher purpose through every avenue in a student’s life…in athletics, through academics, in community.

Since classical Christian education immerses students in the truths of the Bible as well as the Great Books and great ideas of Western culture, students join in the “Great Conversation” as they gain solid academic foundations, play together, explore nature, examine Scripture, and learn to think critically, write effectively, and speak articulately. The ultimate aim of classical Christian education is to transfer values,

to assist the student in transformation “by the renewing” of the mind (Romans 12:1-2). A classical education is the means by which students persevere and gain a grounding that will both inspire and equip them for life.

Education is not a subject, and does not deal in subjects.  It is instead a transfer of a way of life.
