Heritage School campus will be closed until: Fall 2020
That includes all buildings on campus, the grounds, and play ground equipment.
Heritage School's Plan for novel COVID-19 Closure
1. All school-sponsored events and activities are cancelled including the Spring Formal and Grandparents’ Day. All athletic events and competitions are suspended. All achievement testing is cancelled for this school year. College entrance exams have been cancelled, nationally.
2. Heritage teaching and learning will continue as Heritage @ Home by transitioning to an excellent interactive distance learning platform called ZOOM that allows us to keep Heritage, Heritage.
Heritage School rose to the challenge and did not let corona derail our distinctive education for long. In a matter of days, the plan for Heritage @ Home was birthed. After a two week break, students/parents collected books and supplies on the Monday and Tuesday of the week of March 23. On that Tuesday evening, a ZOOM tech orientation was delivered by our own Esteban Garza. On that Wednesday, we held our first-ever cyber BACK TO SCHOOL II Night, and by that Thursday, March 26, we were having classes!
We are now on a 5-day week schedule which includes CHAPEL on Wednesday (no uniforms required). We attempted to create a schedule that will afford students a rich education without spending excessive hours in front of a computer screen. We are happy to have the opportunity to continue classes online via Zoom, but we are betting that everyone will be more than ready for our community to gather again in the fall and enjoy the live Heritage experience!
Information about Zoom: Heritage School's Online Platform
Below is information about the online platform, ZOOM, which we will be using to continue to provide a distinctive classical, Christ-centered education for your student(s):
We will continue to use our Heritage classical, Christ-centered curriculum.
Faculty will be able to teach and students will be able to interact with their teacher and each other live on their computer screens.
IT assistance will be available for faculty and families throughout our use of ZOOM. Email Esteban directly: .
Faculty will teach classes for the most part from their classroom using ZOOM although some may teach from home.
Classes will be held during the 8 a.m. – 12:00 noon timeframe.
Teachers will have office hours and will be available for students and parents as needed via email. As usual, emails will be answered within 24 hours.
It is our strong desire to limit “screen time” for grades K-5. However, we understand the importance of students having face time with, and receiving encouragement from, their teachers while working through lessons together. We also know that parents need support!
