Here are the Robots!

Robots are roving the hallways of The Heritage School! Level V and all Middle School students are involved in

construction, programming, and running various types of robots. Some may react to visual or sound stimulus and others

may detect distances. The students are using the laptops not only for programming the robots, but to test them in the

"field". The robots are part of the "Lego Mindstorms Education" package. This is the first step in the robotics

curriculum being integrated in THS science classes.

The Heritage School  implemented a  modern  wireless network and  laptop program !!

I·         In Addition to our  existing  fiber -optic campus-wide computer network which links   all classrooms and labs to Internet, The Heritage School implemented  a state-of-the art wireless network connected to Internet  and  laptop program for middle school students. Middle School students will be able to use laptops for their class projects  in different areas including Math, Science and Social Studies.

The Heritage School  uses  EDLINE  to keep you informed !

·        Edline is a complete Internet web hosting.   Students and parents   can  privately  access  homework, grades, calendars and much more  !! More than 90 % of  our  community has been  regularly using   Edline  for the last 3 years !!

I·         The Heritage School  enjoys  a campus-wide computer network which links   all classrooms  in elementary and middle school, the computer lab, the  science lab,  the  Library and the administrative offices.

Our   server ,  DELL   runs  the 2007  version of Administrator Plus , GradeQuickbook  among other educational and  network software.

·         Our  fiber- optic network  connects to the Internet  a total of  62   Pcs . Most of them are Pentium IV Dell computers equipped with   :  Microsoft XP operating Systems , multimedia , DVDs , 1 Gb Ram , CD- Burners, Headphones , Scanners  , Flat- screen monitors and  several laser network  printers. Our computer lab and network  is equipped with a specialized Comsift  filter  and Sonic Wall that monitors  permanently all the  Internet traffic and blocks inappropriate web sites and viruses automatically. Computer classes are included in Elementary and Middle School  as mandatory courses. Many computer projects and web sites are created by our young students. Middle school students have participated and won computer  competitions in our county .

·         The Heritage School has two High Speed Internet links  provided by Snappy and Bellsouth for a total of 2 M bps  of bandwidth and a  Firewall that blocks  net access to inappropriate web sites.

·          In order to increase our campus security and surveillance  , we  implemented   a state-of-the-art  DVR ( Digital Video Recorder)  connected to 16  high resolution color cameras  linked to the network and Internet .( access restricted by password) . The video  can also be monitored permanently on a 42” plasma  TV monitor located at the administrative office.

·         We  replaced the old fire alarm system with a new digital fire alarm system which covers all the school buildings . The system  is  connected  through a   radio to a specialized  company  which monitors the school 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year.

·         Finally , All our teachers , staff and administrative personnel  have received a  training to learn how to use our new technological resources  to enrich and enhanced  the educational service we provide. Our journey to  reach excellence has just began !!
